Service Trip to Valdosta – Mellisa
Thinking back about University Lutheran, its hard to pick just one amazing memory that stands out. Our group was like a family, and we were there for each other through the good times and bad, and worked together to support
the community. Every Wednesday for youth group, you know that you can count on the same group of people to share in guide through life’s journey. In particular, I can remember a Habitat for Humanity mission that we took to Valdosta for the weekend, where we helped an elderly woman finally be able to build and own her own home. As a group, we labored to through a hot Georgia day together, and learned some new skills, and celebrated the joy of the day. I believe the new homeowner was there in the afternoon with her family, and the smile on her face is something that I’ll never forget. The feeling of unity and togetherness is one of the strongest feelings I have from my memories at the church, and each member of our group that made it possible. – Mellisa S., Indiana, 2008.
